The project includes a flagship Net Zero building and forms part of one of the region’s most advanced sustainable urban environments.
edge Architects was appointed as Lead Design Consultant for the development, responsible for coordinating the design of multiple buildings, including Net Zero construction. The project required the integration of high-performance sustainability standards within a tightly managed programme.
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE | Year: 2020 | Client: Masdar | Status: Completed in 2025

The Link is a highly rated sustainable development, with all buildings within the parcel achieving LEED Platinum or Gold certification, WELL Platinum or Gold certification, Estidama 4 Pearls, and compliance with Masdar’s strict Sustainability Criteria. These performance benchmarks represent some of the most demanding environmental standards in the region and were achieved across every building in the development.
The public realm is naturally ventilated and shaded by photovoltaic panels, reinforcing the environmental strategy at both building and urban scale. The entire development is designed with sustainability as a core principle.
The project was fully integrated and delivered within a BIM environment, with extensive energy modelling undertaken to optimise performance. As Lead Design Consultant, edge Architects coordinated and organised data streams from more than 27 consulting teams, consolidating them into a single, coherent, high-performing design outcome.
The scale, complexity, sustainability standards, and accelerated design timeline reflect edge Architects’ ability to organise and deliver projects that respond to urgent environmental design challenges.
